As you walk further on, you find yourself at the edge of a cliff. Sunset-pink and yellow clouds surround it, and and below the cliff is a sparkling green valley, with a joyful, singing river in the center, draining from a small, glass-like lake. You find feathers here and there on the cliff, and pick one up, a small green one the size of your pinky. Behind you, a bush wiggles, and a small green creature leaps out, and pins you to the ground. You hold up your hands in fright, and the creature laughs!
"Don't be afeared, human. I'm no enemy of yours-I'm a gryphcat!"
The gryphcat backs away so that you can get up.
"My name is Aviol'luez, or Green Crystal, in your language. I come from the gryphcat cliffs. I'm new to Inness's Utopia."
"It's very nice to meet you, Aviol'luez," you say, introducing yourself. "Are there any other gryphons here?"
Aviol laughs.
"You betcha!" A drawn-out growl comes from the same bushes that the gryphcat came from, and four stockily-built gryphons come out. They don't look very friendly, but they make no move to harm you.
"Those are my guardians, Chrom, Nightfall, Pumpky-head, and Snow-tiger. I'm not so sure that they like their names, but they told me to name them, so I did!"
Aviol looks quite defiant as she stares at the foursome, who yawn and stretch indifferently. |
